Claire
Over a year has gone by and I just found out about your death. I have so many memories of you. I have 2 big notebooks of your letters and news paper articles about the wonderful work you have done for sooo many. I am so blessed to be your cousin and reap the benefits of all the work you did in the USA and abroad. Beautiful copies of your old photos of family members, genealogy sheets you created and recorded, lists of names you were still researching, and personal letters to me for a variety of things. You lived, researched and shared with everyone so unselfishly. You were so smart, so clever and so obsessed with such an important work here. As I told you once, "when you get to the other side and see all the people waiting to thank for your careful, exact work on their families you will realize even more how important your work was." I know that time arrived. Inspite of your humility I hope you truly enjoyed their gratitude. You deserve it. You have made so many lasting friends; all your cemetery organizing, your contributions to museums and to the Library of Congress, endless searching on microfiche, counseling those of us who were hopelessly stuck in our research, etc etc etc. You are missed in so many ways. With love, Mitzi

I only met Claire one time at her house at a genealogy meeting. She showed me how to use dowsing rods, and I was so excited about how they worked that she said, "Since they work for you and you are so excited about them...here, you can have these." I still have them. She was a very neat lady. She also "walked" and recorded the gravestones at my hometown cemetery in the 1970s, which has helped me greatly in keeping the records updated. She was ahead of her time. Rest in peace, Claire. You accomplished a lot in your lifetime.
