Fremont, NE

So sorry to hear Herb died last Friday. No one told me at the nursing home but I noticed his name wasn't on the list of residents when I volunteered today. I have been very busy and didn't read Saturday or Tuesday's Tribune yet. I will miss visiting with "Kid" at Hy-Vee. He always had lots of interesting things to tell us. So glad I have two carvings he made for me. I will treasure them always. Love, "Teach"

Edmond, OK

My brother,Herb was 5 years older than me, and we remained close for the rest of his life. I worked with him at Radio Equipment from age 16 until I moved to Oklahoma in 1979. We had many adventures together and I will miss him greatly. Some of the adventures were: He taught me to drive in Alene's Model A Ford coupe (it had "3 on the floor",and a rumble seat). We went hunting with "Duchess", (his Weimaraner dog), in my 2 seat roadster. I fell asleep on the way home, and when I woke up we were doing 100mph, Herb had wanted to see how fast it would go,
He took me flying in his plane once, and made a downwind landing. It took most of the runway to get it on the ground. He then took off downwind too, I didn't think it would ever lift off. He then informed me that he had forgotten to look at the wind sock at the Millard airport. We took several business trips to conventions in Las Vegas, where our wives got addicted to slot machines. Our families had many enjoyable days together at his Fremont lake home. He had many other good days.
Rest in peace, Brother Herb. Love, Chuck
