Kenneth C. Low age 89, of Scribner Died Monday September 12, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in West Point.
Ken was born May 24, 1927 on the Low farm (homesteaded by his grandfather in 1873) west of Scribner, to Herman and Dora 'Kelberlau' Low. He was raised on the farm and attended District 29 school, graduating from Scribner High School in 1945. After high school Ken served in the Army Air Corps from October of 1945 to January of 1947, serving part of his time on Adak in the Aleutian Islands before returning to the farm where he farmed and lived until becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.
On February 25, 1949 Ken married Gladys Dahl. Ken was a member of VFW Post 4912 in West Point, United Lutheran Church in Scribner where he had served on the church council. He was a former District 29 school board member and former left fielder for the Scribner town baseball team for a number of years.
Survivors: Wife Gladys of Scribner Son Dennis of Scribner Daughters Linda of Phoenix, AZ Barbara (Jack) Cordes of Scribner 7 grandchildren Tara and husband Jacob Wittkamp, David and wife Patrice Low, Jason and wife Raine Low, Shawn and wife Kristi Sanger, Jill and husband Wayne Dames, Jeff and wife Kelly Cordes, Brian and wife Melody Cordes. 18 great grandchildren Brother-in-law Orville and wife Becky Dahl of Scribner Sister-in-law Anita Dahl of Scribner
Ken was preceded in death his parents, sister Frances Meyer, grandson Matthew Sanger and great granddaughter Emma Mae Cordes. He was also preceded by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Leonard and Ardell Poppe and Kenneth Dahl.
The funeral will be 10:30am Friday at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery with Flag presentation by the Scribner American Legion Post 121. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Fire and Rescue, Scribner Good Samaritan Center and the United Lutheran Church.
