Died Friday December 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in West Point

Arden was born April 26, 1931 to William and Sophie 'Witt' Havekost on their farm south of Scribner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church. He attended School District 12 through the 9th grade and graduated from Scribner High School in 1948. Arden married Georgean Meyer in 1951 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. They lived in Scribner until moving to the family farm in 1959. Arden worked at Hormel for 20 years while also farming with his dad during that time. He left Hormel and continued to do the thing he loved the most which was farming.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. He served on the Farmer's Co-op board. Arden loved all sports, particularly Husker football. He attended a lot of sporting events, especially those involving his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and a good game of cards. He also took pride in restoring older tractors.

Step grandchildren Evan (Jaimi) Schmidt, Abbey (John) Lowe, Johanna (Daniel) Miller, Samuel Schmidt,
and Peter (Angela) Schmidt.

Arden was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Glenn, brothers and sisters-in-law Wallace (Phyllis) Havekost and Lowell (Marlene) Havekost.

The funeral will be 10:30am Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Scribner Rescue Squad. Visitation will be Monday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church.
