Robert was born July 13, 1941 in Fremont and was raised in Fremont by his parents Annabelle and Wes Manka. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1959. He worked for a short time at Campbells Soup then began a long career as a firefighter first in Fremont, then after retiring he served as Chief in McCook. After his 'second' retirement Robert worked several different jobs in Fremont before finally retiring.
Robert was married to Sally Wimmer Manka, they divorced, he then married Helen Roush on August 19, 2000. Robert loved antique cars and riding his BMW motorcycle. Robert was a soldier in the Salvation Army and sang in the choir for at the First United Methodist Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be 11am, Friday December 28 at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont, Captain Stephen Hansen, Salvation Army Corps Officer will officiate. Lunch to follow with burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn following the lunch. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family.
