Arden was born April 26, 1931 to William and Sophie 'Witt' Havekost on their farm south of Scribner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church. He attended School District 12 through the 9th grade and graduated from Scribner High School in 1948. Arden married Georgean Meyer in 1951 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. They lived in Scribner until moving to the family farm in 1959. Arden worked at Hormel for 20 years while also farming with his dad during that time. He left Hormel and continued to do the thing he loved the most which was farming.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. He served on the Farmer's Co-op board. Arden loved all sports, particularly Husker football. Arden, I remember all the birthday parties the sisters and brothers of the Stalling families. The young kids would got to the movie in Scribner while the rest of the families would visit and play cards, and talk German. My grandmother was Meta Stalling vonSeggern and we would drive to Scribner to visit her brothers Herman Stalling, Henry Stalling, and her sister Aunt Katie and the rest of the families. So many wonderful memories from long ago.

    Sorry for your loss.
