Died Monday November 10, 2014, In the Hooper Care Center

Lorane was born May 9, 1925 in Pender, Nebraska to William and Ida 'Kratke' Stuckenschmidt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Pender. She attended District 59 rural country school and Pender High School. After her schooling, Lorane worked for Shorty and Frieda Vogel where she met William McManigal. They were married March 4, 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pender. They farmed north of Wisner, Nebraska until 1960. The couple moved to Hooper and purchased Bill's Bar which they operated until 1982. They moved to Ames, Nebraska for a brief time before returning to Hooper in 1991. Lorane worked for 7 years at the Hooper Care Center.

Lorane was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper until it closed. She then became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church also in Hooper where she enjoyed her bible study group. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and also a board member of the Parkview Apartments in Hooper. Lorane enjoyed her morning coffee and playing cards. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Huskers and it didn't matter whether it was football, basketball or baseball. Her greatest pride and joy was being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her children will always remember her as a loving & caring mom, who was always there at all their family activities. She was a wonderful role model for all.

Lorane was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William on March 8, 2001.

The funeral will be 10:30am Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery north of Hooper. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church. Memorials will be determined at a later date.
