Lola was born April 5, 1934 on a farm near Cedar Bluffs to Johan and Marie 'Hansen' Jessen. She was baptized April 22, 1934 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs and confirmed at the same church on March 13, 1947. Lola attended District 12 School near Cedar Bluffs, then District 11 south of Fremont through the 8th grade and graduated from Fremont High School in 1951. She worked as a waitress at several different cafes in Fremont. She also worked at Hormel, Campbell Soup and the Old Home bread store in Fremont. She drove a school bus for the Fremont Public Schools for 14 years, retiring in 1991. She then was a tour host for family and friends from 1995 to 2007.

Lola Jessen married Lowell Meyer on July 19, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. After their marriage they lived in Blair, Wahoo, Boulder, CO.; Sioux City, IA., then back to Fremont.
Lola was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and a member of it's Altar Guild.

Sisters-in-law Marilyn Jessen, Fremont and Donna Meyer, Boyden, Iowa

Preceded in death by her husband Lowell; son-in-law Jeff Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law Delores and Elmer Voss, Mardell and Fred Heybrock, Florene Jessen, Rose Marie Jessen; brothers Delbert and Lloyd Jessen;
brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Orville and Dana Meyer, LaVern (Lisa) Meyer, Don Meyer

The funeral service will be 10 AM Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be Sunday 2 to 7 PM, with the family present 5 to 7 PM. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
