Donald J. Connelly, age 90, of Fremont;
passed away at his home Monday morning, Febr. 29, 2016.
He was born June 1, 1925 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Ed and Elizabeth (Beller) Connelly. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from March of 1951 until receiving an honorable in December of 1952.
Following his military service, Don came to Fremont. He was employed by Hormels for 33 years.
On September 17, 1960, Don was married to Geraldine Hascall. His surviving family is his wife Geraldine 'Gerri', 2 sons, Mark Connelly of Casa Grande, Arizona and Steve (and wife Lindsey) Connelly of Blair, 2 grandchildren, Brea and Kaidyn Connelly of Blair, 2 brothers, Norman Connelly of Gretna and Leroy Connelly of New Berlin, Wisconsin.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elizabeth, by 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Don was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where the Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday (March 3rd) with Rev. Owen Korte. Military Honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Burial will be in the Omaha National Cemetery later.
Memorials are suggested to Bergan Elementary School, St. Patrick's Church, or Fremont Health Hospice.
