Bill L. Michaud, age 88, of Fremont; died Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Premier Estates in Fremont.
Bill was born November 1, 1927 in Nora, Nebraska to Henry and Manila (Buckles) Michaud. He married Rosalie Wyatt in Maquoketa. Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1995. Then on August 9, 1996, Bill and Marcella Divis were married in Fremont, Nebraska, and she survives.
Bill was an active volunteer for many years, having received several awards from the American Diabetes Association, including a state award honoring his work and that of his wife, Marcella. Other awards honoring his volunteerism include those from the Fremont Tribune, KHUB, Red Cross, Nebraska Community Service Volunteer of the Year, Nebraska 4-H, National Diabetes Emeritus, Ak-Sar-Ben, Nebraska State Dairy Judging, and annual awards from RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). He was also honored with the National Dairy Shrine Award.
For many years, Bill volunteered regularly at Low Income Ministry and also was active in REACT and various Emergency Management and Disaster teams. He has served on the Boards of Greater Omaha Community Action, Nebraska/Iowa and Regional American Diabetes, Ak-Sar-Ben Dairy Board and Care Corps Homeless Shelter.
Other survivors include daughters Nancy McCabe, Susan (Kelley) Perry, Brenda (Marty) Frye, and step-son Scott (fiancée Debra Baker) Divis; grandchildren Melissa McCabe, Tyler (Amy) McCabe, Derek (fiancée Leigh-Ann Rocha) Jackson, Alex (Ashley) Jackson, Chance Jackson, Shana Perry, Jordan Perry, Delanie Frye, Colin Frye, and step-granddaughter Kayla Divis, great grandchildren, Connor and Elijah McCabe, Anastasiya and Aydian Jackson. Other survivors include son-in-law, Kim Jackson (fiancée Randy Sigon), sister Helen Marie Erickson, and beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Bill was preceded by his parents, first wife Rosalie, daughter, Sondra Jackson, sister, Donna Lee Holsteen, and twin brother Bob Michaud.
The memorial service will be 11AM Monday (March 21st) at First Lutheran Church with Rick Strong, AIM, officiating. The family will receive friends at his daughter's home in Fremont (1933 Gaeth Ave.) from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday (March 20th). Private burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
