E. Harold Johnson, 89, of Fremont; died Tuesday morning, December 20th, 2016 in Dunklau Gardens, Fremont.
He was born December 22, 1926 in the farm home northeast of Oakland, Nebraska to Linder and Pearl (Carlson) Johnson. He was baptized February 28, 1929 and confirmed June1, 1941, at First Lutheran Church in Oakland by Pastor A.B. Pearson. He attended district 53 in rural Oakland, then moved to Craig and attended Alder Grove School for 10 years, then graduated from Craig High School in 1944.
He moved to Fremont in 1950 and had jobs with Jarvis Dairy, managed a Mobil station, and served as a security guard at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant south of Mead for 12 years after the plant closed. He then worked for the City of Fremont until 1988 when he retired. His hobby was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Harold was married to Mildred Umshker in 1965 and they divorced in 1994.
Survivors include a niece, Merna Pierce of West Point and nephew, Herman Monico of Omaha. He was preceded by his parents Linder and Pearl, brothers Linder Jr. and Vincent, sister Matilda Monico, nephews Eugene Johnson and Joe Monico.
Harold is a member of Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont where his funeral will be held on Friday (Dec. 23rd) at 10:30 AM. with Rev. Al Duminy. A lunch will follow the service, then burial in the Oakland, Nebraska cemetery. Memorials may be directed toward the endowment fund for students at Sinai Lutheran Church.
