LaVon V Hansen
August 26, 1916 - January 12, 2018
LaVon Velda Hansen, age 101, of Fremont, passed into the hands of her loving heavenly father on Friday, January 12, 2018.
LaVon was born August 26, 1916 in Greeley County, Nebraska to William Klein and Clara Elizabeth (Hart) Klein. She was baptized into the Christian faith at the age of four years, and confirmed her faith in1930. She was one of eight children, having four brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death.
She attended Happy Hollow Rural School, then Christian Ridge Public School, when her family moved to Nance County, and graduated from the 8th grade. The family moved to Fremont in 1926, and then back to Nance County in 1927. She moved to Fremont to work in 1936, where she met her life time partner Raymond.
She was married June 12, 1937 to Raymond Edward Hansen at the home of their pastor in Fremont. She was a homemaker and worked at Plumfield Nursery for many years. She and Raymond lived on the farm homesteaded by Raymond's grandfather Ole Hansen, purchased from his father Christian Edward Hansen. Following Raymond's death in March of 1988, she continued to live on the farm the rest of her life.
She and Raymond were blessed with three children- Everett, Janice and Ralph- and then 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 12 great, great grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was a faithful member of Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of East Bethel and Maple Leaf Extension Clubs for 54 years. She loved to quilt, and worked with the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church quilting group for many years. She had many hobbies, including ceramics, holding classes for relatives and friends in her basement studio. And she LOVED playing cards.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, and all of her brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter Janice (Roger) Sasse of Lincoln, son Ralph Hansen of Fremont, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 12 great, great grandchildren.
Her family and friends give thanks to God for her life and gifts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church, the Friendship Center, and/or the Carol Joy Holling Camp. The funeral service will be on Monday (Jan. 15th) at Peace Lutheran Church (east of Fremont) at 10 AM. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday, the 14th, with the family from 4 to 7 PM and a time of sharing at 6 PM. Online guestbook @ www.ludvigsenmortuary.com
