Gregg was born August 19, 1958 in Fremont to Verdell and Phyllis (Franke) Scheer. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Fremont High School in 1976, and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
He married Pat McCarthy in 1981 and they were later divorced.
Gregg has been in the real estate business with REA Real Estate of Omaha. Gregg, in 2009, was married to Mary Springer.

He was preceded in death by his father Verdell Scheer, grandparents William and Hilda Franke, and Oscar and Esther Scheer.
There will be a visitation time with Gregg's family on Wednesday (Nov. 9th) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, from 5 to 7 PM. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 PM Thursday (Nov. 10th) at Trinity Lutheran Church (16th & Luther Rd.) with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. A private committal will be later in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
