Leonard A.H. Ruether age 88, of Scribner Died Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Hooper Care Center
Leonard was born June 27, 1933 to William and Frieda 'Feye' Ruether. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper and graduated from Hooper High School in 1951. After high school he served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and spent a year in Korea. After his military service he returned to the area and married Betty Moyer on June 10, 1956.
The couple lived and farmed in the Hooper and Scribner areas. During this time Leonard was also a seed salesman for Hoegemeyer Hybrids for 30 years and the maintenance man at the Mohr auditorium for 12 years. Leonard was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Scribner and VFW Post 10535 of Hooper.
Survivors: Wife - Betty of Scribner Children - Jolene (Mike Schott) Stockamp of Fremont Anita (Gail) Ludwig of Wisner Donley (Donna) Ruether of Fremont Julie (DJ) Kayl of Parker, CO. 7 grandchildren - Suzanne (Jimmy) Little of Council Bluffs Katie (Mike) Mullally of North Bend Tim Stockamp of Scribner Amy (James) Brandt of Howells Kristie (Andy) Rudnick of Casa Grande, AZ. Kathy (John) Iles of Scottsbluff Amanda (Jacob Klein) Ruether of Omaha 7 great grandchildren - Zach, Natalee and Whitney Mullally Colten and Jasyn Brandt Karly and Lily Little Sister - Lorene (Alan) Thomsen of Fremont Brother - Glen (Vickie) Ruether of Hooper Sister-in-law - Faye Haney of Fremont Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law- Sharon & Glen Houts of North Sioux City, SD. numerous nieces and nephews
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Matthew Ruether, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jim & Arlene Parr, Harold & Darlene Bossow, Floyd Haney, Galen & Mary Moyer and Gerald & Marie 'Skeets' Moyer.
The funeral will be 10am, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Cemetery north of Hooper with Military Honors by the VFW Post 10535 and American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Memorials are suggested to United Lutheran Church or the Scribner Rescue Squad. Visitation will be Friday, 3-8pm with the family present from 6-8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel.
