Jane L. Kula

Jane was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 5, 1921. While growing up, she lived with her parents, Floyd and Margaret (Miners) Negley on a farm north of Ashland, Nebraska. Upon graduating from Ashland High School, she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and then taught in District 4 of Saunders County, also Palisade, Nebraska, and Walthill, Nebraska. In 1949, she obtained her college degree and taught in Fullerton, Nebraska.
She married Alvin Kula of Fullerton in 1951, and in 1953 they moved to Fremont, Nebraska. From 1967 to 1986, Jane was employed by the Fremont School System, teaching in the Junior High.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband in 1993, and earlier by her parents, two infant daughters, two sisters, and four brothers. She is survived by one sister, Lois Vine of Pittsburg, California, two sons, Michael of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mark and wife Renie of Bellevue, Nebraska, one foster daughter, Samantha Polito and her special friend Mitch Webber of Crystal River, Florida, two granddaughters, Lindsay Stacy and husband Donald of Grand Island, Nebraska, Stephanie Kula and fiancé Cody Friedrichsen also of Grand Island, Nebraska, and several nephews and nieces.
She was a long time member of Fremont's First Congregational Church, Retired Teachers Association, and Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Fremont Area Medical Center helping out at their Auxiliary Information Desk.
Throughout her life, Jane enjoyed traveling, writing poetry, listening to music, attending theatric productions, and working crossword puzzles.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life Sunday, August 7th, from 2 to 4 PM at the First Congregational Church, 1550 No. Broad, Fremont, Nebraska.
At the request of Jane, a private graveside service and interment will be held at Fremont's Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational Church.
