Pearl was born at Cortland, Nebraska on March 20, 1915 to Paul and Anna (During) Schultz. She graduated from Cortland High School in 1931 and continued her education at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Graduate work was done at the University of Nebraska, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Denver University. She earned a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois.

She was a career teacher, having taught in the public schools at District 4 in Gage County, Nebraska and also in Campbell, Tekamah, Columbus, and Fremont.

After retiring, she did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, the Low Income Ministry, and for nineteen years was a docent at the Dodge County Museum. Since 1988, she tutored Spanish speaking adults in English.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont, having joined the Cortland Methodist Church in 1923. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Mary Circle. And she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Fremont Area Retired School Personnel, and for more than fifty years a member of Venus Chapter #49 Order of Eastern Star of Cortland.

She is survived by a sister, Lillian Schultz, of Fremont, a niece, Jeannene Douglass of Lincoln, a nephew, Dr. Rod Douglass and wife Eileen of Los Alamos, NM, a grand niece, Megan Douglass of Lincoln, and a grand nephew, Brian Douglass and wife Ashley of Albuquerque, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, and a sister.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Friday (July 29, 2011) at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Greg Hall officiating. The committal will be in the Cortland Cemetery in Cortland, Nebraska at 1:30 PM Friday. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
