Donald "Skip" A. Anderson

June 29, 1931 - February 1, 2022

Donald (Skip) Alan Anderson, Age 90, of Fremont
Died Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

Skip Anderson was born on June 29, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Edwin and Dorothy Anderson. He grew up in North Platte, Nebraska where he graduated from high school. Skip earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1953 from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln before serving in the US Army from 1953-55. After briefly studying education at Iowa State, he started his teaching career in Harlan, Iowa before moving to Fremont where he taught Chemistry for 39 years.

Skip wed Jean Anne Smith on July 10, 1955, at Blair United Methodist Church in Blair, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children: Debra, Pam and Jeff. Skip and Jean briefly lived in Harlan before making Fremont their home where they raised their family. She was the love of his life.

Skip loved music, especially barbershop harmony. He sang lead in the Vocalmotives Quartet, whose schtick left people rolling in the aisles with laughter. His signature flattop haircut was the icing on the cake as the group sang in perfect harmony while the slapstick comedy kept the crowd entertained. His Sunday gig found him singing tenor in the church choir for over 50 years.

Skip's biggest source of pride was his family. He loved to attend as many sporting events, choir concerts and piano recitals as he could where you would always find him with a video camera in his hand capturing memories he would share with everyone. At Christmastime, there was always a trip to the pheasant farm where he taught his grandkids the art of shooting a shotgun with finesse. You could rest assured, if he pulled the trigger, a bird was going down.

Skip passed away on February 1, 2022, at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Dorothy. Skip is survived by his wife Jean of Fremont, daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Garland Perry of Sharpsburg, GA, Pam and Jon Ehly of Omaha and son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Lisa of Spring, TX; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
