Elmer "Al" L Bartlett

He was born Sept. 23, 1919 to John and Ada (Meyers) Bartlett in Wichita, Kansas. As a small child, he moved with his family to Bellevue, Nebraska where he grew up and received his education.
On October 19, 1941, Al was married to Lila Sorensen, and they would have celebrated their 70th anniversary in 3 months. Later, Al worked for Mother's Best Flour Mill in Omaha until he entered the US Army in 1942. He served his country for nearly 5 years with a portion of that time in the Phillipines. Returning home after the war, he and Melvin Sorensen entered a partnership and formed the Arlington Electric and Plumbing Co. This partnership lasted until 1949 when Al moved his family to California. There he found employment with the North American Aircraft Co. for 5 years. Later he would move back to Arlington where he accepted a position with OPPD. He enjoyed a long tenure with this company serving in various positions and locales for 33 years. Some of the locations included Ralston, Valley, and Arlington.
Al devoted time to his church, Boy Scouts, VFW, Arlington Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine.
Survivors: wife - Lila 2 sons - Alfred and wife Emily Bartlett of Phoenix, Ariz. Jerry and wife Denise Bartlett of Omaha 1 daughter - Alberta Bartlett of Fremont 6 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren 1 great, great grandchild Al was preceded in death by a sister, 4 brothers, a grandson, and an infant daughter Peggy.
The funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday (July 12, 2011) in the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. The committal with the US Flag presentation, will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Fund.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be today (Monday-July 11th) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary from 3 to 8 PM.
