Carrol Westphalen

Carrol was born and raised on the family farm south of Scribner. He attended District 47 School, then Scribner High School graduating in 1941. After high school Carrol went into business with his father operating Westphalen Transfer. They maintained an excellent record at the stock yards. He operated the business until 1999 when his son Lyle was killed in a trucking accident west of Columbus.
Carrol was very involved in the Dodge County Fair. He began working the fair when he was sixteen doing odd jobs around the fair grounds and was planning on working the fair again this year. His most recent job was taking tickets at the gate. Carrol had also served as a board member during this time. He was also a member of United Lutheran Church in Scribner, the Scribner Chamber of Commerce and past member Fremont Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #200. In 2009 Carrol won the Scribner Native Son award.
Carrol married Wilma Raasch on October 25, 1953 in Scribner
His Children and Family: Sons - Bruce and wife Carol Westphalen of Grand Island Lyle (deceased) and wife Becky of Scribner Daughters - Shirley Jackson of Fremont Judy and husband Earl Sinkler of Lincoln Sister - Mildred Koopman of Fremont 6 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren
Carrol was preceded in death by his wife Wilma in November of 1996 and his son Lyle in 1999.
The funeral will be 10:30 A.M. Monday July 11 at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Fair. Visitation at the Scribner Funeral Chapel will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm with family receiving friends from 3pm to 5pm. Visitation will continue for 1 hour before the service at the church.
