Lowell Wayne Weitzenkamp was born August 23, 1929 to August and Cora (Schroeder) Weitzenkamp in rural Scribner. He graduated from high school in Scribner. He was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of rural Hooper, where he had been baptized and confirmed. He sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school there.

On May 28, 1950, Lowell was married to Mardell Anderson in the Congregational Church in Uehling. Four children were born to this union. Lowell was a farmer and cattle feeder all his life. They moved from the farm to Fremont in 2000. He was a member of the National and Dodge County Cattlemen's Association, and had been President of District 60 School Board. He was a member of the Fremont Cosmopolitan Club. Lowell was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont and served on it's endowment committee.

2 sons - Tom (Cindy) Weitzenkamp of rural Hooper
Scott (Wendy) Weitzenkamp of San Jose, Calif.
4 grandchildren - Jon (Janelle) Weitzenkamp, Jenny (Chris) Estudillo
Michael (Kaitlin) Harper , and Brian Weitzenkamp.
3 step-grandchilden - Emily Trower, and Kim and Brian Merk
6 great grandchildren - Nick, Joel and Katie Weitzenkamp
Elise, Evie, and Elena Estudillo
sister - Doris Von Seggern

Lowell was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Yenny, brother Ronald Weitzenkamp, sister-in-law Diane Weitzenkamp and brothers-in-law Melvin Von Seggern and Roy Yenny.

Memorials are suggested to the Building Fund of First Lutheran Church or to the University of Nebraska Foundation (for pancreatic cancer research).

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening (July 8th) from 6 to 8 PM at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday morning (July 9th) at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charlie Axness and Rev. Matt Knopf officiating.
