Patricia V. Voss (Heald)

Patricia V. Voss (Heald), 89, of Ames, NE, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Unity Point Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Pat was born April 20, 1934 in Marietta Township, Saunders County Nebraska in the home of Richard L. and Ora (Neff) Heald.
Pat grew up in rural Marietta Township and went to Dist. 57 grade school until 1946 when her family moved to Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Clover Park High in 1952 and continued to live in Washington until moving back to the family farm in 1954. She worked various jobs to include Spanglers Jewelers in Fremont, Nebraska. While working in the area she also met Doug Voss from Ames and in 1959 they were married. Doug was a farmer and together they farmed in the Ames area and raised a family until Doug's death in 2009.
Horses were Pat's passion and she was a longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, The National Reining Horse Association, the International Buckskin Horse Association, and the Nebraska Quarter Horse Association. She was also a collector of art and had many paintings, prints and statuary consisting of horses and western themes.
Pat lead a full life that spanned the East Coast to the West Coast and many points in between. She was tough and independent and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She enjoyed the many cats the farm provided and loved to have a good dog by her side. She was a life member of the Mead Emmanuel Baptist Church, land on which it sat being donated by her Great Grandfather, and will be returned home to Green Mound Cemetery which was also founded by her Great Grandfather and his brother.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Lori of Bassett, Linda(Sam) of Linwood and Lisa of Snyder, all of Nebraska; sons, Larry(Rhonda) of Ames, NE, Lee (Holly) of Dike, IA and Ivan(LaDawn) Hankins of Waterloo, IA; sister Mrs.(Carl) Betty Whinnery of Lakewood, WA; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Life service will be 10am, Monday May 22, 2023 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
