Gerald "Dutch" G Gerths

Dutch was born September 29, 1943 in Fremont to George and Agnes 'Helgenberger' Gerths. He was raised and attended school in Scribner. After his schooling Dutch began working for the packing plants in South Omaha, Iowa, and Kansas where he later became the head cowboy. After retiring Dutch and his wife Chris moved back to Nebraska in 2000.
Dutch was a team roper and played semi-pro football for the Omaha Mustangs. He was an arm wrestler, placing second in the heavy weight division while in Iowa. Dutch also enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycles, horses and his grand and great grandkids.
Survivors: Wife - Chris of Omaha Children - Debra Owen of LaVista Vicki Kirschenman of LaVista Scott and wife Mary Gerths of Texas Tracey and husband Arlen Haase of Hooper Charles Morrison of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Morrison of New York, NY Angie Good of Elkhorn Sister - Charlene and husband Joseph Fleischman of Tekamah Brother - Dean and wife Jane Gerths of West Point 14 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren nieces and nephews
Dutch was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carol Mae Dooley.
The Funeral Mass will be 10am Saturday May 7, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. The Rev. Vitalis Anyanike will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner on Friday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church.
