Elbert Reimnitz

Elbert was born on October 1, 1923 in San Paulo, Brazil to Rev. Carl and Emma Ortman. His father was minister & missionary. His parents moved to West Point, Nebraska where Elbert graduated from high school. He went to work as a welder in San Francisco, California until he was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps. After 18 months back in the civilian work force, Elbert reenlisted in the Army for 2 years. He then lived in various states until coming to Fremont in 1990. Most of his work had been as a warehouse manager for vending companies.
In July of 1944, Elbert married Alta Lea and she preceded him in death in 1989. Then in July of 1990, he was married to Mercedes Lincoln Gerdes and she preceded him in death in May of 1999.
Elbert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, and was formerly a member of Zion Lutheran Church near Bennington, Nebraska.
In addition to his 2 wives, he was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Charles and Robert, and a brother and 2 sisters.
Survivors: 2 sons - Rev. Wesley and wife Gretchen Reimnitz of Springfield, Illinois Philip and wife Margaret Reimnitz of Lincoln 1 daughter - Louise and husband Richard Pribil of Fremont 9 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren 2 brothers - Rev. Charles and wife Betty Reimnitz of Omaha Rev. Stewart and wife Pat Reimnitz of San Diego, Calif. 1 sister - Trudy and husband Earl Dawson of Jackson, Mississippi
There will be a memorial service at 10 AM on Thursday, May 12th, 2001 in the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will be in Hillcrest Westlawn Cemetery in Omaha. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and Trinity Lutheran Church.
