Sharon "Sherry" A. Smith

November 10, 1945 - July 15, 2024

On July 15, 2024, Sharon Ann Smith age 78, of Plattsmouth, formerly of Fremont, was called home to be with God and her beloved husband, Dennis.

Sherry was born on November 11th, 1945 in Everett Washington to George and Parilee Pitzer. Growing up in a military family, she spent her early years moving frequently including time in Germany and Japan. The family settled in Council Bluffs, IA where she would graduate from Abraham Lincoln High School. Working at an afterschool job she met Dennis and they would marry and spend the next 60 years raising their two children Christy Leibbrandt and David Smith.

Sherry spent most of her career working as a receptionist at a cosmetology college in Fremont. She was a Masonic wife and active in all things Masonry including serving as Worthy Matron of Arbor Vitae chapter 92, Order of the Eastern Star in Fremont. She spent her last years living in the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, NE surrounded by her Masonic friends and staff that she adored. Her real passion in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Sherry will be remembered for her love of people, her infectious smile and her ability to see the good in every person and every situation.

Sharon is survived by her brother Dan Pitzer, children Christy (Bill) Leibbrandt and David (Heather) Smith, grandchildren Megan McDonald, Nate (Savannah) Nolde, Mackenna Smith, Cameran Smith, and Hayden Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Parilee Pitzer and her husband Dennis in 2023.

An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be 2pm, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, immediately following will be a Celebration of Sherry's Life. Light refreshments will be served following the celebration. There is no visitation.

Memorials to the family to be donated to a Masonic charity honoring Sharon's memory.
