Joan Everett

Joan was born January 8, 1928 in Central City, Nebraska to Lawrence and Ethel 'Stahl' Sinsel. She grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1946. After high school Joan worked in the Governor's office in Lincoln. She returned to Central City and attended Nebraska Central College.
She was married on August 12, 1951 in Central City to Lin Everett. After their marriage the family lived in several different communities until arriving in Fremont in 1966. Joan was a teacher and Director of the Opportunity Center for Trainable Children. Later, this organization became part of the Fremont Public Schools Special Education Department. During this time Joan returned to school and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She continued teaching until her retirement in 1992.
Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Sorority, the National Education Association (NEA), the Fremont Education Association (FEA) and had been a volunteer with the meals on wheels program in Fremont and the Special Olympics.

Joan was preceded in death by a son-in-law, 2 sisters and a brother
The memorial service will be 2pm Tuesday February 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. The Rev. Greg Hall will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Special Olympics. There is no visitation.
