Gorden was born April 18, 1915 in Fremont to Charles and Sadie (Rubley) Reier. He grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. A few months after high school, Gorden joined the United States Navy. He served a total of 11 years, after having been discharged and then called back. He saw duty in the South Pacific, and as a Chief Petty Officer he served aboard the aircraft carriers, the Saratoga and the Lexington.

On September 16, 1951, Gorden was married in Fremont to Dorothy Manzel and Fremont was their home. Dorothy preceded Gorden in death in January of 2005. Gorden was for many years, a construction superintendent for Carlstrom Brothers Construction Co. in Fremont. He had also done some home construction on his own and also had a saw sharpening business. And for many years, he was active with the Volunteer Fire Dept.

Gorden was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting. And he was a motorcycle enthusiast, particularly with Indian motorcycles.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday (Dec. 7th) in the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, with the Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be today (Monday, Dec. 6th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family present from 6 to 8 PM.
