Gladys I. Spreen

Gladys was born May 11, 1918 in Stanton County to Fred and Caroline 'Schwanke' Dimmick. She was raised in Stanton County and attended the Stanton County schools through the 8th grade. On August 31, 1938 Gladys married Lawrence Spreen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stanton County. The couple farmed in that area until moving to Dodge County in 1952. In 1960 they moved to Washington County and finally moved into Hooper in 1969.
Lawrence died on June 6, 1992.
Gladys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper.
Survivors: Daughter - Eileen and husband John Schafersman of Hooper Son - Leon and wife Betty Spreen of Hooper
7 grand children - Mark and wife Jean Schafersman, Pattie and husband Rich Baker, Ernie and wife Sheila Schafersman, Tammi and husband Derek Kruszcysk, Kermit and wife Jennifer Schafersman, Brian and wife Geryl Schafersman, Sheldon and wife Sara Schafersman. 19 great grand children 2 great great grand children
several nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Violet Detjen.
The funeral will be on Friday September 17 at 10:30 A.M. in St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooper Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel on Thursday September 16 from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at church on Friday.
