Anton "Tony" Belak

He was born February 24, 1925 in Gregory, South Dakota to Joseph and Frances (Chvala) Belak. He grew up in Gregory and following his schooling, worked for his father in the plumbing business.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in May of 1944 and served until August of 1946. He came to Fremont and began working for Rogers Tent & Awning. Then he went to Hormel's, where he was employed for the next 36 years, retiring in 1984. In his retirement he continued his leather craft business, making belts and purses and working with saddles and other leather items. Tony made the leather badges for the Inglewood Fire Dept. On October 30, 1947, he was married to Phyllis Schulz and Fremont has been their home.
Tony was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and VFW Post 854.
Survivors: wife - Phyllis 2 daughters - Katherine Roumph of Fremont Karen and husband Keith Klingenberg of Bayard, Iowa 1 son - Anthony Belak of Fremont and fiancée Becky Wilderman 6 grandchildren - Paul Roumph, Scott and wife Carissa Roumph, Chad and wife Karmin Klingenberg, Michael Klingenberg & Kelsey Klingenberg Anthony M. Belak 6 great grandchildren - Emily Gilbert, Katy & Megan Roumph Anna & Hali Klingenberg Kaleb Roumph daughter-in-law - Rebecca Belak of Winslow daughter-in-law - Nancy Belak Martinez and husband Dan of Fremont 3 brothers - Pete Belak of Council Bluffs, Iowa John and wife Janice Belak of Fremont Joe Belak of Gregory, South Dakota 2 sisters - Anna House and special friend Gene Taylor of Fremont Susan Connot of Gregory, South Dakota
He was preceded in death by a son Timothy in 2007, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
The funeral service will be 2 PM Friday (Sept. 3rd) at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Memorials are suggested to The Tuition Fund of Trinity Lutheran School. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be today (Thursday - Sept. 2nd) from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
