Marlyn J. Peters

August 11, 2010

Marlyn was born July 9, 1940 in Fremont to John and Agnes 'Stalling' Peters. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper and graduated from Scribner High School in 1958. On August 12, 1962 Marlyn was married at Trinity Lutheran Church west of Scribner to Karen Hoge.

Marlyn farmed on his family's farm his whole life. His interest in farming started when he helped his father work the farm. He took the farm over in 1957 upon his father's death. He loved his family and was very active at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church southwest of Scribner. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and was very proud of them. He served on the church council for many years at St. John Ridgeley and was instrumental in the rebuilding of the church after the fire in 1993. Presently, he was serving as Yoke treasurer of St. John Ridgeley/United Lutheran churches. He also sold Pioneer Seeds for many years and received numerous awards for his work.
