Esther was born May 14, 1915 in rural Stanton County to Ernest and Ida 'Raabe' Melcher. She was raised on the farm in Stanton County until the family then moved to a farm near Pierce. Esther graduated from Pierce High School in 1934. After high school she took a nursing correspondence course and began working in private duty care nursing and for Dr. Calvert in his office in Pierce. She also worked at the state hospital in Norfolk.

Esther was married on November 21, 1938 in Pierce to Oliver M. Reimers. They farmed in Pierce for a short time then moved to Randolph where they continued to farm until Oliver passed away in 1973. Esther continued to live in Randolph until moving to Hooper in 1997.

While in Randolph Esther was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the ELCW (Evangelical Lutheran Church Women), and was a member of P.E.O for over 50 years. Since moving to Hooper she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Smiles.

Esther loved to cook, crochet, quilt and embroidery.

Daughter-in-law - Martha Reimers of Randolph

Esther was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by a son Ronald, a granddaughter Mindy and her sister Erna.

The funeral will be 10:30am Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. The graveside service will be 2pm at the Randolph City Cemetery in Randolph, NE. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church and Odyssey Hospice. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel in Hooper.
