Alyce Mae was born on August 6, 1928 in Fremont to Joseph and Lily (Olson) Green. She was a lifetime resident of Fremont, except for a few years when she and her husband lived in Fontanelle, Nebraska. She was a 1946 graduate of Fremont High School and attended Midland College for 2 ½ years.

She grew up in the family floral business in Fremont, Greens Greenhouse, and worked there all her life until just a month ago when her health failed.

On January 14, 1949, Alyce Mae Green was married to William H. Smith. They were married in Fremont in her grandparent's home, the same home where her father and mother 'Carnation' Joe & Lily Green were married and where her daughter Sue was married to Randy Reyzlik.

Alyce Mae was a life long active member of The Presbyterian Church. She had served her church as an Elder, taught Sunday School, was active in the United Presbyterian Women, member of Circle 4, and taught Bible School. She also had been secretary of the DAR (Daughter's of the American Revolution), a member of the Joslyn Art Guild, the Fremont Area Art Association, and she was a supporter of Keep Fremont Beautiful.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law - Randy Reyzlik in January of 2006.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday (January 10th, 2009) in The Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William Lewis officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Keep Fremont Beautiful and to The Presbyterian Church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont will be on Friday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Visitation at the church Saturday morning will be for an hour before the service.
