Robert "Bob" B. Berg
February 28, 1931 - February 24, 2013
He was born February 28, 1931 in Oakland, NE to Birger and Anna (Anderson) Berg. He was a 1949 graduate of the Craig High School. Then he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Bob married Marilyn Erwin in 1955 and she passed away in 1970. Then in December of 1971 Bob was married to Joan Sanders.
He worked his entire working life as a brick layer and masonry contractor, working on many area building projects including; the Keene Library, YMCA, Masonic Center and the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children, Fremont Area Medical Center, Midland University, Bergan and Fremont High Schools, and many of the churches and commercial buildings in the area.
He will be remembered for his storytelling abilities, his discussion of local and national news, his love of history and his attempts to keep track of his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of his Swedish heritage. He had traveled to Sweden and took language lessons. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and was active with the Low Income Ministry and the Dodge County Humane Society.
Survivors: wife Joan 2 daughters Pam and husband Larry Bell of Lanesboro, MA Gail and husband Karl Reichert of Colorado Springs, CO 3 sons Scott and wife Douglass Berg of Thousand Oaks, CA Tom and wife Renee Berg of Mitchell, SD Jamie Berg of Delmar, NY 10 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren 2 sisters Helen Christenson of Craig, NE Sandra and husband Delwin Slatt of Oakland, NE 1 brother Don and wife Joan Berg of Scribner, NE He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, sisters Eleanor Price, Doris Phelps, Elaine Hall, and Eunice Fager
The funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday at The Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Earl Underwood. The committal will be in the Craig, NE Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Low Income Ministry.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Friday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
