Kathryn (Anderson) Petersen

Kay was born September 9, 1921 to Hans and Hulda 'Swanson' Anderson in Delavan, Wisconsin. She grew up in Verdel, Nebraska and graduated from Gregory High School, Gregory, South Dakota in 1939. She married Glen Petersen in West Point, Nebraska, September 30, 1941. To this union, twins Leighton and Karen were born. The family lived in San Diego, CA. Later they settled in West Point, Nebraska and owned the Coast to Coast store for a number of years. Kathryn enjoyed her work as church secretary at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. After retirement she moved to Fremont. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in various church activities. Kay loved spending time with her family and special friends. She also liked playing card games, Scrabble, and in recent years she spent many hours playing Chinese Checkers and Kings Corner with her best friend Edith Stuenkel.
Survivors include her son, Leighton Petersen, Hurst, TX; grandchildren: Holly (Jeff) Quandt of Lincoln, NE, Jeffrey (April) Petersen of Grapevine, TX, Chelsea (Matt) Bonnes, Malbern, PA, Daniel Petersen, Hurst , TX; four great grandsons: Taylor, Jacob, and Cole Quandt all of Lincoln, NE, and Seth Petersen of Grapevine, TX; and daughter-in-law: Deanna Petersen, Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was preceded in her death by her parents, her husband Glen, and daughter Karen (Petersen) Stark.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, NE. Burial at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, West Point, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church.
