Raymond W. Hula
June 24, 1934 - April 2, 2013
He was born in Fremont to Walter and Berneice (Campbell) Hula. A lifetime resident of Fremont, Ray graduated from Fremont High School with the class of 1951. He served in the United States Navy during the years of 1953 to 1955, and then served 7 years in the Naval Reserve.
Following his military service, Ray worked for a time at Hormel's. He also was farming the family farm during this time. Later he became a partner in the Everly Plumbing & Heating firm, retiring in 1997.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and woodcarving. He was a member of the Pathfinder Woodcarvers in Fremont. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont, and the American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Ray was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
On April 23, 1955, Ray was married to Shirley Hilgenkamp. Shirley preceded him in death on January 31, 2008. He was also preceded by 2 daughters, his parents, and a brother.
Survivors: daughter Suzanne and husband Mark Baker of Omaha son Col. Russell and wife Elizabeth Hula of Eagle River, Alaska 3 grandchildren 1 great grandson 2 sisters Beverly and husband Jerry Martinez of Fremont Marilyn and husband Tom Walling of Fremont 1 brother Robert and wife Bonnie Hula of Clarksville, Arkansas special friend Marge Johnson of Fremont
The funeral service will be 10:30 Tuesday (April 9, 2013) at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School.
Visitation (with closed casket) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Monday from 2 to 8 PM and at the church on Tuesday for an hour before the service.
