Lawrence "Larry" J. Heintzelman
April 1, 1939 - July 8, 2013
Larry was born April 1, 1939 near Hooper to Anthony and Lucille 'Springer' Heintzelman. Larry graduated from Hooper High School then joined the Air Force spending time in the Air Force Band. Following his military service he formed a couple of bands that played throughout the area.
The majority of Larry's working years were with the United States Postal Service in Fremont.
Larry married Marlene Fouts and together they raised daughters April and Nicole. They divorced and later Larry married Rhonda Petersen in Clearwater, Florida on November 22, 1982.
Those left behind missing Larry are his wife Rhonda, daughter Nicole Hilliard of Fremont; Sons Jordan and Jarad Heintzelman both of Lincoln. Grandchildren Tyler, Ashley and Kelsey Hilliard. Great Grandsons Lucas and Landon Hilliard. Brother Lee Heintzelman of Oakland, NE. In-laws Jack and Jean LaVarier of Mason City, IA.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Sondra Benson of Mason City, IA. Nieces and nephews Kelly Bingham, Amy Patterson, Josh Evenson, Jarrod Benson and their families, and very special friends Larry and Mary Ann Thomas and Larry and Dixie Pearson.
Larry was person who enjoyed life. In his earlier years he could often be found at the Fremont State Lakes, camping, boating, and water skiing. Some of his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, woodworking, auto-body/painting and gardening. In his later years he could be found tending his many flower gardens. Most of all Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 12th, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Joel Schroeder. The Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854 will present the United States Flag. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM with the family present from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials will be directed by the family.
