Mildred Hindmarsh

August 14, 1917 - October 3, 2013

Mildred Hindmarsh, 96, of Fremont died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Edgewood Vista in Fremont.

She was born on August 14, 1917 to Joseph and Bozny Sic in Scribner Nebraska. Her family purchased and moved to the Hershey chocolate company's farm in North Bend when she was an infant. While attending Fremont High school she boarded with her good friend Virginia Maas in Fremont. She graduated from FHS in 1935.

Mildred married Keith Hindmarsh on February 28, 1942.

After one year of Midland College, Mildred taught in country school districts 3, 5, 87 and 42. She taught K through 8 th grades. Mildred finished her degree at Midland Lutheran in 1975. Her passion was teaching students to be life long learners. One often heard her say, " to teach is to touch a life forever."

After retiring from teaching in 1979, she worked as book keeper for her husband's business, K and H Equipment on Highway 30.

Mildred was a member of Eastern Star and the Fremont Area Association of Retired School Personnel. She was a member of Women's Opportunity Network giving business loans to women in developing countries, so they could educate their children and better care for their families.

Survivors include her daughter Julie Hindmarsh of Baltimore and well loved nieces and nephews Margie Porter (Larry) of Fremont; Bill Winkelman (Sue) of Fremont; Darlene Roemer (Howard) of Scribner; Sherryl Schuler (Don) of Omaha; Marvin Winkelman (Jan) of North Bend; Denny Sic of North Bend; LoAnn Hanson of Hutchinson, MN; Delgene Boll (Patty) of Hutchinson, MN; JoLynn Shepard (Dave) of Cass Lake, MN and Debbie Bailey (Dennis) of Topeka, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Hindmarsh and her siblings Eva Boll, Libbie Winkelman, Blanche Clausen and Joe Sic.

The celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 12 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Followed by burial at Arlington cemetery. Visitation will be 3pm to 8pm Friday, October 11 at Ludvigsen Mortuary, 1249 E. 23rd St. in Fremont. Family will be in attendance from 5 to 7 PM
