in Lexington, NE.
Al was born November 30, 1928 in Sutton, NE. to Leonard and Lydia 'Klein' Roemmich. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 with the 7th Army, B-Battery, stationed in Landshut, Germany.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Bourke on September 12, 1953 at St. Joseph Church in York, NE. Al was employed by Nebraska Public Power for 42 years and initially worked as a lineman in various towns in Nebraska. He was the local NPPD manager in Walthill, Scribner and Rushville, NE. He retired in 1991 when he and Betty moved to Fremont. While in Scribner, Al served as the school board secretary, secretary to the Chamber of Commerce; he also served on the Industrial Development Board; and the Low Income Housing Board. He was also the American Legion Commander for two years.
Al was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 20 both of Fremont. He also belonged to the Fremont Golf Club and was involved in a bowling league and volunteered at the Low Income Ministry.

Al was preceded in death by his wife Betty in November of 2010, parents, Brothers Cleo, Phil and Darrell, a sister Verdilla Stevens, two infant brothers, and an infant granddaughter.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Fremont Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 3pm to 7pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. A wake service will be held on Monday at 7pm also at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
