Chris was born May 27, 1928 in Blair, Nebraska to Chris F. and Marie 'Nielsen' Gutschow. He was raised in Blair and graduated from Blair High School. Chris began working for Kelly Ryan in Blair as a welder. He started working for Missouri Valley Machine in 1949 first as a mechanic then service manager. He worked for Missouri Valley Machine in Omaha, Norfolk, and Sioux City, IA. until 1959. In 1960 he moved to Fremont. Chris was co-owner of Fremont Heavy Equipment until 1980 receiving the Case Service Award. During this time he served as a Boy Scout Leader. He then worked for Buffalo Machinery in Omaha until 1982 and Landpower Equipment from 1982-1985. Chris also worked for Federal Crop Insurance as a sales agent from 1985 to 1987. He worked for Reutzel Pipe Line as a mechanic until the early 1990's. He was also at one time a stock car mechanic at Peony Park in Omaha.

During his life Chris had many passions. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, wildlife, and reading daily scripture. He always had to have something to tinker with. His greatest passion/hobby was fishing, from the time he was a boy till this last summer.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents Chris F. and Maria Gutschow, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

The funeral will be 9:30am Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Matt Knopf will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, Dodge County Humane Society and the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Friday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church.
