Ellen C. Mayberry

Ellen C. Mayberry, age 102, of Fremont, formerly of Tekamah,
died Wednesday (Dec. 11th) in Arbor Manor, Fremont.
Ellen was born to Alfred and Clara Benson on November 23, 1911 in Bancroft, Nebraska. She was raised on the farm near Bancroft. Ellen married Robert W. Mayberry in 1943 and they made their home in Tekamah. She was the lead cook for the Tekamah schools. During the summer months, she worked with the kids on the detasseling crews. Ellen and her sister-in-law, Ramona Benson, also operated a restaurant in Tekamah. And she also cared for a son, James Mayberry, who died in 1986. Her husband Robert, died in 1988, and a brother Carl has also preceded Ellen in death.
Ellen had been a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, and she had been active in the Senior Citizen's Center in Tekamah. Ellen moved to Fremont in 2006.

There will be a Prayer Service 10:30 AM Monday (Dec. 16, 2013) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, with the Rev. Jon Ashley. The committal will follow in the Tekamah Cemetery. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday (Dec. 15th) from 2 to 5 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
