Vernon Synovec
March 30, 1936 - January 27, 2014
FREMONT NE Vernon Synovec passed away quietly surrounded by his loving family on January 27, 2014, at Merrick Manor in Fremont at the age of 77. Vernon was born in Pierce, Nebraska, on March 30, 1936, to Edward and Minnie (Klusman) Synovec. He married Mardell (Jessen) in Yankton, SD, on June 21, 1956. That relationship produced two sons, Terry and Todd Synovec, both of Fremont. They later divorced. He married Jane Harrison Martinez July 27, 1977. Jane and Vernon were inseparable from that point forward, spending one night apart in their 35 years of marriage. This union blessed him with a step-daughter, Rebecca Martinez Briggs. Jane preceded him in death, passing January 12, 2012. They look forward to a reunion and eternity together in Heaven. He was a card-carrying member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers of America for 40 years. He worked in the trade for 25 years, the last several years as local union President. He assisted in the construction of a number of homes in and around Dodge County during that time, as well as helping construct numerous large scale projects such as Methodist Hospital in Omaha and working with Kiewit and Associates building a power plant in Nebraska City. Unfortunately, an accident on this last job forced him to choose a different career path. Vernon received his Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from Antioch University in 1983. Using those beginnings, he began a successful nutritional consulting business in Solvang, California. He and Jane founded Acceptance Insurance Services in July 1989 turning it into one of the largest insurance brokerages in Northern California. At its peak they owned and managed ten insurance brokerage offices located throughout northern California with a headquarters in Pleasanton, CA. He continued to manage these offices until his death. He is survived by his two sons, Terry and wife Michele, as well as Todd and special friend Brandy Simpson, all of Fremont. He also is survived by two grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Synovec, and step daughter Rebecca and husband Keith Briggs. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Jr. and Arlan, and a sister, Ethel. Vernon enjoyed golfing somewhat average, dancing well below average, and talking while spinning a tale. He will be missed for his wit, kindness and ability to make people smile. He will be remembered for his love of the Lord and spending his resources, time and passion, and along with Jane, helping people see the light. Memorial services will be held in Modesto, California, on February 5, 2014, at a church he helped find, People's Church of Modesto, at 11 am. Vernon's strong friend Pastor Sam Stoner will be officiating. They will also hold a private service locally.
