Shirley J. Auch

March 9, 1929 - February 7, 2014

Shirley was born March 9, 1929 in Gretna, Nebraska to Hugo and Dorothea 'Otte' Belter. She was raised on a farm between Millard and Gretna. She attended country school until the 8th grade then attended Gretna High School where she graduated. After high school Shirley worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in downtown Omaha for 12 years. She met Robert Auch and was married on May 2, 1959 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millard. After their marriage they lived southwest of Fremont where they currently live now.

Shirley was a homemaker and loved to take care of her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed dancing and loved to bake, winning many awards at the state fair. She was extremely proud of being a Red Cross Volunteer at the Fremont Area Medical Center for over 35 years.

Shirley was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont, the American Legion Auxiliary in Colon and was a former member of the Dandy Dozen Extension Club.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Donald, Dorothy, Merlin, Kenneth and Hugo Jr.

The funeral will be 10:30am Tuesday, February 11 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Matt Knopf will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel will be Monday from 3pm to 7pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
