Nora was born October 2, 1937 in Atkinson to Edward and Gladys 'Meeker' Brady. She was raised and attended school there. She moved briefly to Yankton, SD. and California before moving back to Atkinson. Nora married Robert Porter Sr. on August 23, 1963 and they lived in Atkinson before finally moving to Fremont. After moving to Fremont, Nora received her GED, and became an LPN. During this time Nora was playing in a band called 'Nora Porter and the Prophets, and continued her education. Robert died in May of 1980. In 1983 Nora graduated from College of St. Mary in Omaha and after becoming a Registered Nurse she worked for Dr. Haskins in Fremont for several years.

In 1987 Nora and her son Bob Porter Jr. joined the Haywood Wakefield Band. Nora played with the band until she met Les Pope, they married in 1989 and they continued to live in Fremont.

Nora was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved to spend time on Ebay and also loved to go to regular auctions and antiquing. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening and photography.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

The funeral is 2pm Tuesday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Burial is in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be Monday, 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm all at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
