Wilma K. H. Hilbers

Wilma K. H. Hilbers of Scribner, NE.; was called out of this life into her eternal rest as a gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ on Saturday March 8, 2014 at the age of 99 years old.
Wilma Klara Henrietta Hilbers was born January 12, 1915 on the family farm northeast of Scribner in Dodge County, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred Sr. and Minnie 'Wooldrik' Hasemann. She grew up on this family farm where she attended grade school at Dristrict #83. Wilma was reborn into the Christian faith in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on March 21, 1915 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cuming County Line, Scribner, Nebraska. On April 28, 1929, she reaffirmed her Christian faith in the Rite of Confirmation, also at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cuming County Line. On June 5, 1935, Wilma was united in marriage to Oltman A. Hilbers. The couple farmed north of Hooper until January of 1977 when they moved into Scribner. Wilma moved into Scribner's Elkhorn Valley Villa in September of 2011.
Wilma was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, WELCA at St. Paul's, and a member of West Logan Extension Club. In addition to cooking and baking, Wilma enjoyed quilting and reading. However, most importantly to her was the time spent with her family and attending the various events and activities of her family members.
Wilma is survived by five sons and spouses, and two daughters and spouses: Gene and Marlene Hilbers of Hooper; Raymond and Pauline Hilbers of Warsaw, Missouri; Vernon and Dianne Hilbers of Lyons, Nebraska; Dennis and Kathy Hilbers of Hooper; Loran and Robin Hilbers of Hooper; Karilyn and Donald Alberts of Scribner; Anita and Robert Backhus of Effingham, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; many step great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; many step great great grandchildren; brother Fred Hasemann Jr. of Scribner; sister-in-law Coletta Hilbers of Scribner; many well-loved nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 16, 2000; son Wayne on March 19, 1970; two brothers and spouses: Marvin and Corrine Hasemann, and Verlin and Lorraine Hasemann; sister-in-law Gladys Hasemann.
The funeral will be 10:30am Wednesday March 12 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. The Rev. Judy Johnson will officiate, burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner.
