Kenneth W. Schuette

Kenneth W. Schuette, age 81, of Mead, Nebraska died in his home early Thursday (March 13, 2014).
He was born on the family farm in Washington County to William F. and Esther (Geisler) Schuette on July 24, 1932. He grew up attending the Hartung School, and Immanuel Lutheran School east of Winslow. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1950. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1954.
Kenneth served in the United States Army for 2 years, with duty in Germany. Then from 1957 to 1960, he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, earning his masters degree in agronomy. From 1960 to 1964, he worked in Shenandoah, Iowa for the Earl May Seed Co. Kenneth and his wife moved to Mead in 1964 where Kenneth worked in the bank. He left the bank in 1973 to work for NC+Hybrid Seed Co. in their lab. He retired in 1995.
Kenneth was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo where he has served in various offices of the church. He enjoyed being active with the Pathfinder Barbershop Chorus, the Lincoln Continentals Chorus, and singing with several barbershop quartets over a 40 year period.
On July 7, 1957, Kenneth was married to Virgene Legband in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Snyder, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be in Fremont at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1544 E. Military Ave.) on Tuesday (March 18, 2014) at 10:30 AM. The committal will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hooper (east of Winslow). Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Monday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family present from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo and to ALS Association.
