Del F. Hartung age 84, of Fremont
died peacefully Sunday October 30, 2016 at Nye Legacy Health and Rehab in Fremont.

He was born to Obert and Helen (Mahel) Hartung in Fremont on February 24, 1932. He attended school in Fremont and worked on the family farm before entering the Navy April 5, 1951. He was honorably discharged March 18, 1955. He was employed by a dry cleaners, and later worked for AT & T for 32 years. He attended college night classes, then was promoted to industrial engineer. Del was an avid fan of Nebraska football, a loyal supporter of Omaha's Tangier Shrine and a member of its Oriental Band. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Omaha, a member of Fremont Masonic Lodge No.15 A.F. & A.M. and the Fremont Shrine Club.

Del was devoted to and cared for his family. He is survived by wife of 54 years, Norma Lee (Dorfmeyer) Hartung, daughters LeAnn (Ken) Karmann of Omaha, Shara (Roger) Wagner of Fremont, son Kent Hartung of Fremont, grandchildren Morgan Karmann, Amanda (companion Jason Smith) Hartung and Nia Karmann, great grandchildren Ariana Maddox, Chloe Maddox and Corbin Smith, brother Paul (Pat) Hartung of Fremont, several cousins and lots of friends. He was preceded by his parents, Obert and Helen Hartung.

The family will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM to visit with friends. There will be a private family service at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Spina Bifida, or directed to the family for distribution.
