Lois was born March 19, 1944 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Frank and Helen 'Swain' Kozak. She grew up on the family farm near Virginia, Nebraska and graduated from Virginia High School in 1962.
Attended UNL and completed her degree at Nebraska School of Business.
Lois married Alton K Crook on September 13, 1964 in Beatrice. She was a devoted wife during Al's time in the Army & service in Vietnam. After Al's service the couple lived in Clarkson, Nebraska for 3 years. While Al taught school, Lois worked at the bank in Howells, Nebraska. They then moved to Beatrice for 5 years and in 1975 moved to Fremont. They have lived in Fremont for 42 years where they raised their two daughters Jennifer & Angie.
Lois was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother. She truly enjoyed bringing her family together in her home and serving them a home-cooked meal. Her creative talents included sewing, gardening, baking and playing the piano. She was active in her children and grandchildren's activities following all of their events near or far. As a "long distant" Grandmother she was committed to sending them notes, cards or gifts weekly.
Lois was an avid reader & shared her love of reading and education with others. She had great compassion for people with disabilities because of her own health struggles. Her family and her home were her world.
Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was active as a Sunday school teacher and in women's circles. She had been involved with the Howard School PTA while her children were there. She also served as a teacher's aide.
Lois is survived by her husband, Alton of Fremont; daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Darnell of Elk River, MN and Angie (Mike) Grimm of Amarillo, TX. Four Grandchildren, Logan and Mallory Grimm of Amarillo, TX; Maxfield and Evan Darnell of Elk River, MN. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (George) Gillespie of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law, Sherry Kozak and brother-in-law, Walter Crook.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Helen Kozak and brother, Daniel Kozak.
A memorial service celebrating and honoring Lois' life will be at 2:00pm on Saturday Jan. 6th, at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Burial will be at a later date.
