Died March 10, 2018 at Dunklau Gardens
Orville was born May 29, 1924 on the family farm near Hooper to Fred and Anna 'Poppe' Von Seggern. He was raised on the farm, attended District 60 school and graduated from Scribner High School. Orville began his professional music career at the age of 14. After his schooling he began farming and continued his music career playing with various bands including Les's Merry Men and the Dick Wickman Band before starting his own band. Orville played mostly around the area, but he did play in New York City several times. After that he started his own band, The Orville Von Seggern Orchestra, and played in Nebraska and surrounding states before retiring at 80 years of age making him the oldest band leader in the state at that time. Over the years, Orville sang for over a hundred weddings and numerous funerals.
Orville married his high school sweetheart Volline Kienbaum on December 6, 1944 and had been married for 73 years as of last December. Milford, IA Friday, June 29, 2018 I just learned of Orville's passing. Please accept my belated sympathies. Some of my fondest memories were riding on the bus, playing old time on my trumpet, listening to Orville sing or play his tuba. He loved his wife and he used to dedicate the "Honeybee Waltz" to her. I met so many wonderful people in the time I spent involved with the orchestra. Peace be with you.Laura

Tulsa, OK Monday, March 12, 2018 Am so sorry to hear of your loss. My family and myself went to many of Dick Wickman's dances in an around the Fremont area. Orville sang at my wedding back in 1967. What a wonderful voice he had. If I recall right he was a cousin to my Uncle Warren Von Essen. May the Lord wrap His loving arms around you all and give you peace.Marlene Stumpe Geiger
Ames, IA Sunday, March 11, 2018 Sending my sympathy to all of Orville's family. While it has been years since I've seen Orville, he was never forgotten. I will always remember his kind and gentle manner, his special gift of being able to visit with anyone, and his incredible voice in song. As I write this, I have a cd playing copied from my parents record of hymns that he cut years ago--"how great thou art"--my favorite of all. God has brought another special angel home!
