He served in the Army Air Corps in the middle 1940's, then returned to Hooper. He played on Hooper's city baseball team, and also played for other ball teams. And he had been invited to play professional baseball. He was a sports enthusiast and followed the local and college sports programs.
Dale was married on February 27, 1949 to Charleen Schurman. They farmed east of Winslow until 1957. Dale was also an electrician. In 1957, Dale began operating the Sager Hardware in Hooper, and later he was a tax consultant for many years with H & R Block of Fremont. Dale also served the city of Hooper as mayor for many years. He was active with the Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, and had served as the Fire Chief.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Hooper, and a past chairman of the local Thrivent chapter. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, past president of Hooper's Lion's Club, Past Commander of American Legion Post 18, and member of the Hooper Saddle Club.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother Floyd Sager.

son - Ron and wife Nancy Sager of Nickerson
daughter - Kay and husband Robert Reiman of Cheyenne, Wyoming
5 grandchildren - Erika (Sager) and Johnny Leuenberger, Jennifer Reiman, Janelle (Sager) and Jason
Lorsch, Valerie Reiman, and Mark Sager.
3 great grandchildren
sister - Dorlene and husband Wayne Luther of Hooper
sister-in-law - Grace Sager of Hooper.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday in the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Hooper with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. The committal will follow in the Hooper Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 18 and VFW Post 10535.
Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church and to Midland University.
Visitation at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel will be on Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
