Gloria was born on November 13, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska to Kenneth and Pearl Goldsberry. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1954. Gloria met her future husband Gil at a get together at his Uncle's house, and that was all it took. She married her husband of 67 years, Gilbert, on June 12, 1954.
Gloria and Gilbert began their married life in Fremont and soon after, their first child Sandra was born. They then moved to Omaha when Gil secured a job with Safeway. Shortly after the move, Michael and Treg became part of the family. Gloria began her career at Western Electric assembling switch boards and moved on to be a Manager at Richman Gordman Stores in Omaha, for many years. She finished her career with Safeway Supermarkets, after they moved to Thornton, Colorado in 1983.
Gloria and Gil loved traveling together, and starting with a custom built, homemade camper, they traveled the US, visiting such places as New York City, Cape Cod, Disneyland, and even got chased out of Galveston, Texas by Tropical Storm Candy. They traveled to such exotic destinations as Hawaii, Acapulco, and even Cuba on a cruise. Speaking of cruising, they so enjoyed the weekends with their circle of friends, touring the heartland on their motorcycles, including a trip to the Rocky Mountains.
Later after ditching the camper and the kids, they drove their Corvette to the West Coast to explore Washington State and Mount Ranier, Oregon's coastline, California to the Redwood forests, and the entire Bay area in San Francisco.
They especially loved their time living in Colorado, taking visiting family and friends on trips into the Rockies, the Denver Zoo, and going to see the Rockies play baseball.
The Broncos became their second favorite team behind of course, the Huskers.
In 2001 Gil and Gloria moved back to their Nebraska roots and Omaha, to be closer to family in their retirement years. Gloria so enjoyed cooking for Gil in their golden years. She also loved collecting items that made her happy including countless cookbooks and recipes, including her Mothers.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Gilbert Drews, her two sons, Michael (Laura) Drews of Omaha, Nebraska and Treg (Marie) Drews of Valley, Nebraska; grandchildren, Derek, Kristen, Kyle, Asia, and Seth Drews; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Apollo and Hayden; and sister, Beverly (Goldsberry) Jacobson of Gretna.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Pearl Goldsberry, and daughter, Sandra (Drews) Clark.
