She had worked as a secretary for over 20 years in the Los Angeles (California) County School District. In 1976, Betsy moved back to Fremont and worked at Hormel's as an executive secretary until retiring.
Her hobbies: an avid reader, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, collecting antique egg cups, and painting. She was a regular blood donor. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her family was very important to her.
Betsy was preceded in death by her father Paul J. Hovendick, and brother Paul H. Hovendick.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (July 25, 2011) at Salem Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, on Sunday (July 24th) from 2 to 6 PM.
